4130 is a through-hardening chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. It is stocked in as-drawn, stress-relieved, normalized, or quenched and tempered condition, is not subject to temper-embrittlement, and responds to nitriding.

Excellent for alloy. Readily welded by Oxyacetylene or Electric
Forging:
Hot forge in temperature range of 2000°F. In forging, the finishing temperature should not be under 1800°F.
